I'm coming home

Well, I had hoped for a nice quiet week after my aunt and uncle left, but that didn't happen and I'm okay with it.  Chantal was back and we hung out quiet a bit that week and Cynthia was back as well.  It was all lunches and shopping and fun girl times.

Ramadan finally ended Aug 19th and 20th (called Hari Raya) and that Monday and Tuesday was a holiday so that all the locals could eat all day I think after fasting for a month and only eating between sun-down and sun-up.  We were happy to have Ramadan over because of the traffic and Eric because he gets his co-workers back up to normal speed during the day!  On Sunday, August 19th, Eric and I celebrated 10 years together! It's crazy how time flies by and seems to last a lifetime.  We made reservations at a nice Italian place called Garibaldi's that's not too far from here, got dressed up and went out and enjoyed a very nice dinner.  I got to wear a new dress and new heels and felt like a million bucks :)  Dinner was amazing.  The service was the best part.  It's hard to find good service here in Asia, so it was great to find a place that had awesome service.  We had made reservations and made mention we were celebrating an anniversary and they made it special for us.  We had a nice table by the window, they put out little heart confetti on the table and they had candles, and the chef came out to talk to us when we sat down.  They gave us a free glass of champagne each, a free little starter and a free desert and the staff was just great.  You have no idea how refreshing it is to have an attentive staff (one of the reasons I am looking forward to coming home for our holiday).  The food was great and the wine was great, everything was...great!  Lovely evening and a nice celebration! <3

Monday night of this long weekend we went over to Chantal's for dinner where she made poutin for us, its Canadian homemade fries with gravy and cheese.  So bad, but so good!  Scott was still not back from Canada yet and the cheese was getting ready to go bad, so she made it for us and a couple others.  Tuesday of the long weekend we finally went to go check out the bird park with Chantal and Ashley.  I've been wanting to go, so I could check it off my list of things to do in KL.  The bird park here has over 3000 birds and is the world's largest free-flight walk-in aviary.  It's some crazy number of acres big with a huge net surrounding the entire park with the birds all just flying around, hence the free-flight walk-in aviary :)  There were all types of birds everywhere!  We had a great time there, it was worth the day trip there, so nice.  We got POURED on when we were getting ready to leave.  Absolutely soaking wet.  We made Eric go get the car while we waited in the gift shop and then headed on home.

The following weekend was a girls night with Chantal and Leah.  Scott wasn't back yet and Ashley had a sleepover, so it was Chantal's last free night ;)  The boys played golf and hung out at the pool and then had a guys night in.  We went out to dinner and then to Zeta bar for some dancing.  We had so much fun, danced all night to a great band.  The band sings and plays all new dance music, so it's a blast!

Liam's wife, Jaime, arrived at the end of August and is getting settled in nicely it seems.  We've done lunches and nights out and bbq's and nights in, all good fun.  Yesterday, Sunday September 9, our friends Jesse and Cynthia had a bbq and had some of us over.  Eric and I went over early to watch some college football, let me tell you, Eric was thrilled to be watching college ball.  We had chicken wings, and snacks, and everyone else showed up about 3ish to hang out and watch some football too.  Jesse grilled some great chicken and we all had a nice dinner.  The Texans first game of the season was Sunday night/Monday morning at 1am our time, we wanted to watch it, but it was a school night.  After much contemplation we decided to stay up and watch the game!  We went home for a bit to walk the girls and chill for a bit, then took off on our way back to Jesse and Cynthia's.  We stopped for some coffee first of course, I mean it was 10:30 and we had a loooonnnngggg night ahead of us.  We arrived and watched some tv and played around with YouTube clips to get to 1am and then game time baby!  Texans played a great first game.  I was happy they won, made staying up a little more worthwhile.  We ended up leaving about 3:30 or so just after the third quarter ended and headed home to finish up the fourth quarter and watch the Texans get their sweet, sweet victory.  Eric fell asleep as soon as the game was over, but I somehow stayed up until about 6am watching the 'afternoon' games through to halftime when I finally decided it was time for bed.  I'm in a ladies fantasy football league and wanted to watch some of my guys play a bit and see what they were all about.  Turns out staying up until 6am isn't so great for the next day.  I got up about 10 to take the girls out.  I'm so tired, I should probably nap, but for some reason decided to write instead, yay! This will make things easier for me before we leave to head to Dubai and then home.  It won't take me so long to write, so I will actually get this guy out before heading out.

(GO TEXANS!!! Can't wait to tailgate and go to the Texans vs Packers Sunday night game when we are back!!!!!)

It's now just over a week and a half since I wrote everything above this in this blog.  Took a little break to let life happen and now it's time to wrap up this blog and get it out before heading home.  The last couple weeks seem to have gone by in a blur.  I think it's because of our trip home.  Last weekend (Sept 15-17) was another 3 day weekend for the working husbands, so they got in 2 rounds of golf, one Saturday and one Monday.  Other than that I think last weekend was relaxing.  Eric was in Singapore most of this week, luckily I had stuff to do that happen to fall while he was gone at night.  He left Tuesday, so I just stayed in knowing I'd be out the next 2 nights.  Wednesday was the Expat Mingle, and I went down with a few of the girls and Scott and Liam.  It was just down the road from us, maybe a 10 minute walk, so we headed down there for good drinks and good company.  Didn't win anything again in the lucky draw, I'm starting to think these things are rigged... It was fun though, we all had a good time.

We had a girls night again, but this time to go see Adam Levine sing, I mean Maroon 5 :D  The concert took place at Shah Alam Stadium on Thursday night, Sept 20.  Lucky for us, we don't work and have no trouble going out on a school night!  It was me, Cynthia, Chantal, Jaime, and Leah.  Cynthia came over early to hang out and avoid traffic coming out here.  We meet up about 6:30 and headed down to the plaza for a bite to eat before the show.  We had pretty good pizza, pretty good for finding pizza in Malaysia anyway, and some wine of course.  We headed on our way about 7:45, a shout out to Julio (Chantal's driver) who drove us all to the concert and waited around and drove us back home, thank you (even though you will probably never see this..) The concert was great! Sooooo good. Loved the show.  I think they put on a pretty nice set.  Music was good, Adam was great, and being there with the girls made the night amazing.  We all had way too much fun and are currently in search of our next concert outing...we hear JLo is coming soon, hmmm..... ;)

Eric made it back home the next night, Friday, and went out with the boys.  Eric, Scott, Liam, and Dave all entered into a biggest loser competition with each other with $100 each on the line.  They decided everyone would pay the winner and then they would all go out and celebrate with a night on the town with the winner buying all night.  Eric won, of course, as he is ridiculous when it comes to him using his will power and losing weight.  I think he lost about 15-20 pounds, congrats to you babe! You are looking great! :)  The rest of the weekend was a little slow.  Taking it easy before we leave on Wednesday!  Sunday night was a dinner/champagne house warming welcome party thrown by Jaime and Liam.  They wanted to get it in before we left, which we appreciate :)  Jaime made a DELISH paella, soo good, and was a wonderful hostess! ;)  It worked out really nicely as a bit of a good-bye for us as well and see you all in 3-4 weeks.

Leaving KL for just over 3 weeks in a couple days.  Saying good-byes and packing, always difficult, but we will be back before we know it.  This trip is going to be so busy and go so quick.  Leaving here on September 26th and arriving in Dubai on the same day.  Spending 3 nights there as a 5 year wedding anniversary celebration (which is the next weekend, officially, Oct 6)!!  Then arriving in Houston on the 29th.  Leaving Houston for Orlando on Oct 1st and returning on the 3rd.  Finally in one place for a bit, this time will be spent with family and friends, then Eric starts a 3 day golf tournament on Oct 11, and while he's doing that I head up to Chicago until the 13th to visit some wonderful friends.  Going to try and fit in a day to San Antonio to see other family and friends as well (we hope, but looking at our schedule it may not be possible). And then finally leaving Houston on the 17th and heading back to KL, arriving back here on the 19th. Whew!  In between all the travel will be lunches, good food, dinner, good food, nights out, nights in, friends, family, sleepovers, tailgating, football games, golf and golf dinners and everything else we can squeeze in!!  We expect great, cool weather, so see what you all can work out for us ;)

Can't wait to see you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  <3
